Sri. Prakash, aka Mandolin Prakash is a classically trained virtuoso artiste, who has been performing for over 20 years. In addition to his classical performances, he has collaborated with many of the stars of the Indian music industry that include A.R.Rahman, Anirudh, Harris Jayaraj, Imman etc.

He will be accompanied on the Violin by Smt. Mahathi Balajee (Australia) and on the Mridangam by Sri.Chirag Mani (Auckland).

A concert by Veteran Musician Madurai Sri. G S Mani accompanied by local talents.

New Zealand Indian Fine Arts Society is very excited and proud to be bringing a unique Musical Evening, for the very first time to the Wellington Audience by Veteran Musician. Sri.G.S.Mani Iyer.

Sri.G.S.Mani Iyer, a veteran with seven decades of experience, is well-versed in Carnatic & Hindustani Music. His lecture demonstrations are very popular among budding musicians. He has also scored music for films and has composed several songs in Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu.

This legendary Octogenarian Vocalist is bringing in a conceptual musical evening, exploring Carnatic Music through Tamil film Songs, which is indeed going to be a treat for both classical and light music lovers. He will be accompanied by local talents on Harmonium and Tabla.

He will primarily speak to the audience in English.

29 April, 2018:

A delightful evening of music from Vidhushi Amritha, Vidwans RKS and MKB.

Mayamalava Gowla and Kannada Gowla set the opening for a brilliant Varali (Mamava Meenakshi), where the dynamics of Sri. Balaji showed meditatively dexterous synchronisation to Amritha and then a masterly Swara raga Sudha (in Shankarabharanam) followed and flowed!

Amritha sung a couple of compositions by her guru Vid. RKS and took the audience to blissful heights.

RKS provided brilliant support throughout.

Of the lighter pieces, the audience were enraptured by the soothing lullaby Manikkam Katti and went home satiated, though wanting more!

Serene classicism to the fore

A soulful and wholesome concert.

Commencing with a brisk Saurashtram (Surya Moorthe), bouncing brilliantly on to Purandara Dasa (Ile Vaikunta - Varali), moving on to blissful Ananda Bharavi (O Jagadamba)...setting up with the popular Brova Barama and thematic Ongi Ulagalanda (Adippooram) the centre piece in Kiravani Kaligiyunte (Thyagaraja) was captivating. The neravals and swarams were fantastic.

Annapoorne in Sama, Narayana Thirthar's Govardana Dhara, Kamalesha Vittala Dasa compostion in Behag, 30th Pasuram (Vangak kadal) came later and RKM stirred us late in the evening with the ever-popular காபி (Jagado Dharana), followed by Thiruppugazh and Mangalam. The viruthams were imbued with amazing BhAva, as were all the renditions.

Rajeev on the violin and Bharadwaj on the Mridangam rendered able support to RKM and played with brilliant anticipation and finesse. A well structured concert.

This team will go a long way. Wish them the very best.

Followed by the Successful Nadaswaram Concert,  NZIFS is delighted to present IDHAYAM - Carnatic Collective Fusion ensemble as the final concert for this year (2014-2015). 

After bringing two masterly concerts by Mysore and Subhan Brothers, this time our stage is open for the Young Kiwi Talents and bringing them to our members.

Idhayam consists a group of young New zealand talent which started performing in 2013 and have given a few shows in Wellington and have received fabulous reviews for the freshness of their music and creative expressions.

Unique Instrumental Concert First time at Wellington

NZIFS proudly brings “Nadaswaram Concert - by Kasim Brothers” to the Wellington audience on 6^th February 2015 @ St.Orans College, 550, High Street, Lower Hutt, Wellington. 

Nadaswaram, is considered as an auspicious classical musical instrument without which any South Indian Hindu Weddings are incomplete. It’s the world's loudest non-brass acoustic wind instrument with a hardwood body and a large flaring bell made of wood or metal. It is known as “Mangala(Auspicious) Vadya (Instrument) “a key instrument played in weddings and temples of the South Indian tradition. This instrument is usually played in pairs, and accompanied by a pair of drums called thavil.

 

We are sure that this unique instrumental concert would bring entirely new essence of music to our members, as the artistes “ Kasim Brothers,  Shri.S.Kasim& Shri. S.Babu” hail from the family of musicians who has preserved the art of playing Nadaswaram for the past 300 years. They are disciples and grandsons of Late. Dr.Sheik Chinna Moulana who is a legend in Nadaswaram. Kasim Brothers are accompanied by Sri.VijayaKumar Mathavan & Sri.Rajan Ganesan on Thavil.
