Sri. GJR Krishnan & Smt. Vijayalakshmi are renowned for playing pristine pure notes on the violin. They are the torch bearers of the honorary Lalgudi tradition (bani). The bani is a blend of melody and rhythm each complementing the other; it is a bani where music takes the front seat and technique is viewed only as a means of projecting & expressing the melody; the bani aspires to make the violin sing.
